Land trusts work to conserve these diverse landscapes, each with its own distinctive mission and geographic focus, to preserve the natural and cultural heritage of Texas.

American Farmland Trust

Mission: American Farmland Trust seeks to protect farmland, promote environmentally sound farming practices, and keep farmers on the land.

Aransas First

Mission: A 501(c)(3) organization founded to identify, acquire, & protect sensitive Coastal Bend habitat essential to the nurture of birds, wildlife, & people.

Audubon Texas

1: Panhandle Plains, 2: Prairies & Lakes, 3: Pineywoods, 4: Gulf Coast, 5: South Texas, 6: Hill Country, 7: West Texas, Statewide

Mission: Audubon Texas is the state branch of the National Audubon Society, dedicated for over 100 years to conserving and restoring natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity.

Bayou Land Conservancy

4: Gulf Coast

Mission: BLC works in the Houston area to preserve land along streams for flood control, clean water, and wildlife.

Big Thicket Natural Heritage Trust

3: Pineywoods, 4: Gulf Coast

Mission: To protect and preserve the land, water, scenic beauty, plants, wildlife, bio-diversity and natural, historic and cultural communities of the Big Thicket.

Cibolo Conservancy

6: Hill Country

Mission: Conservation of the natural and cultural resources of the Texas Hill Country.

Coastal Bend Land Trust

4: Gulf Coast

Mission: To preserve and enhance the native wildlife habitat of the Coastal Bend region of Texas.

Coastal Prairie Conservancy

2: Prairies & Lakes, 4: Gulf Coast

Mission: The Coastal Prairie Conservancy works to protect greenspace for its conservation and recreational benefits, enhance wildlife habitat, restore tallgrass prairie and wetlands, sponsor scientific research, and offer public programming and activities to introduce the general and school-aged public to the sights and sounds of the prairie.

Colorado River Land Trust

Mission: The mission of the Colorado River Land Trust (CRLT) is to work in partnership with landowners to conserve and protect land and water resources for future generations.

Connemara Conservancy

2: Prairies & Lakes, 3: Pineywoods

Mission: Connemara works with farmers, ranchers and other landowners as well as city officials and forward-thinking developers to protect over 6,000 acres of land throughout North Texas.
